Murray. you resigned as web master at the reunion in Boise, Id. You no longer
have any official affiliation with the 15th Med web site. You sent a bill to the 15th
Med. for renewal of the domain name, a check was issued on 5-15-15 (Check #
110) for the amount of $178.20. The check was cashed on 5-20-15 for your
reimbursement.  You stated that you would only release any pertinent information
to the new web master. The domain name must be released to the new web master
Ron Huther.

MY mistake as the President was in being deeply committed to lending my 30 years
of experience in finance, legal, and business matters to update and make more
thorough and professional the C&BL’s (and they certainly were not for my benefit
because on the very same day that they were unanimously approved, I passed the
gavel to Corky).

MY mistake was in believing that those following me in office would want to adhere
to the established policies and procedures, since they were elected by the general
membership who were entrusting them with that obligation (or so they thought).

THE mistake made in Boise was that a small group of people had an emotional and
irrational desire to “box Murray out” because he evidently “annoyed” them by
reminding them that they should follow the C&BL’s. Murray had dedicated
countless and selfless hours to maintaining the website for years, and ended up
being treated in a shameful manner.

WE all have quirky personalities and traits that may not be appreciated by others,
but I expected grown men to rise above that petty outlook, recognize the talent and
work ethic of Murray, and not treat him in the shabby way that he was.

HOWEVER, in that group’s desire to eliminate Murray from being the Webmaster
and an important part of the Executive Committee (he is also a Past President), that
group did not think things through (as usual). Leo Williams, who was at best an
absentee President simply occupying the title for an entire year, was appointed to
replace Murray!

DID no one anticipate, based upon his lack of effort and communication as the
President for an entire year, that this too would be a failed job on his part (and that
it would take months before the problem boiled over)?

DID no one anticipate or even consider that he could not, or would not, do a proper

EVERY successful project always come down to two things: Ability and Desire - the
“can do” and the “will do” factors. Talk is cheap, but that seems to be Leo’s primary
stock and trade.

AND now, the solution seems to be to dump off this huge duty to some third party
individual. Is this person a member of the 15th Med Association? When was he at
past reunions?

1. WHERE in the minutes of a duly announced Executive Committee meeting with a
quorum (in accordance with the C&BL’s) was this issue raised, a motion made, and
a vote taken? Why do the emails not have every member of the Executive
Committee copied in? It’s called transparency.

2. WHY did Murray not first receive an email directly from you, the President,
informing him of the actions taken in item 1 above?

3. WHY would Leo call me about this? He is not the President, you are. Why would
he call me since I am no longer on the Executive Committee?

4. WHERE is the contract or agreement that this individual will sign where the
relationship, his duties and responsibilities, any financial obligations (either to him
or from him to any other party for maintenance, upgrades, etc.) are defined? Is
there a Non-Disclosure Agreement embedded in the contract, or would we want
him telling Dustoff people stuff that’s out of school?

5. Is he strictly a volunteer, or is this individual, if this is his business, incorporated?
Is he bonded? Does he have liability insurance? What happens if we are not
satisfied with his work? How do we regain control of the website if the relationship
goes south? What happens if in his tinkering the whole thing crashes? Where is the
back-up? Who else will have the passwords and keys to the kingdom?

AND, you guys are wondering why Murray is reluctant to just sign something or
shift something over? Murray is dedicated to doing the right thing for the 15th Med
Association, but if he sees the same slipshod procedure now in these requests that
he saw when he was unceremoniously “fired,” who would blame him for balking?

I was replaced as the Parliamentarian with the comment that “there are loopholes in
the C&BL’s.” When Murray asked where, NO one could cite any - he was simply
told that the new Parliamentarian “would look into it.”

ANY set of policies and procedures or C&BL’s are living documents, meant to
evolve with the needs of the organization. But ANY C&BL’s changes need to be
carefully thought through and made ONLY with the consent of the members with a
vote, NOT on the whim of any small group because they do not like something. It’s
called democracy.

I have heard guys complain that we didn’t follow the rules in Vietnam.

YES, combat is filled with flexible tactics and field expedients in the heat of battle.
But tell me what happens if you do not disassemble, clean and reassemble an M-
60 in the proper way? Tell me what happens if a pilot doesn’t use a checklist (or
just makes up his own way) to pre-flight or start a Huey?

WE are NOT in combat - an Association should follow its procedures, so that chaos
like this can be avoided, and if not avoided, handled correctly.

Mike, I was involved with all my heart and soul:

- I compiled a Reunion Guidelines binder with checklists and a sample contract,
among other many items.
- I planned and ran the Nashville reunion (and dedicated it to Jerry).
- I researched and re-wrote our 10 year-old and out if date C&BL’s.
- I spent my own money having my attorney review that document.

INVOLVED?  The way Murray was treated, and how Leo tried to throw me under
the bus, and the bad-mouthing crap I hear about pretty much tells me LOUD and
CLEAR that you guys DID NOT and DO NOT want me involved.

AND now Leo says the domain name is needed so that the members can be told
about the reunion? This is OCTOBER! He got the job when?

HELL, just use Facebook and make a few telephone calls amongst yourselves -
why wouldn’t that work? That’s what I saw you guys preferring to operate for the
past two years.

HOPEFULLY, you will forgive me getting a few things of my chest, and hopefully
that when any adults in the room get past not liking me or my style, they will see the
logic in the content.

AND, since you mention his name, I am sending Murray a copy.

FEEL free to share this email with anyone you like.

Best regards,

I understand that you have been asked to relinquish 15th Med Bn website files and
information to Ron Huther who has offered to take over as Web Master for the
association.  Its been said that you have refused to do so.
Having publicly resigned as Web Master at the Boise, ID reunion, and accepting
reimbursement for website domain expenses, you need to put aside personality
conflicts and be forthcoming in providing Ron all the information he needs to
reestablish the Web site.
Hopefully, everything on the current domain is intact and you have securely stored
files, documents and website settings elsewhere in order to effectively transfer
information to Ron.  You have an obligation to provide Ron with the following
information beings the Domain belongs to the 15th Med Bn Association:
·        Domain hosting company you registered 15th Med Bn domain name with.
·        The length of the terms of agreement with that hosting company.
·        Contract obligations if there is a transfer of the present Domain to a different
hosting company.
In addition, the error message “There is a problem with this website’s security
certificate” is displayed when attempting to access .
It also states “The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a
different website’s address”.  You need to inform Ron what that’s all about.
Hopefully you consider my request in the spirit of the 15th Medical Battalion
Association’s characteristics and its members as a whole.

It would be appreciative if you would release the Domain Name to Ron Hueter for
the website. We need to get the reunion information posted for 2016.

Thank you
